Referring to a recent interview given by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to a private news channel, state BJP president Dilip Ghosh said on Monday that the state SC/ST wing of the party was likely to move court against the CM.

“During the interview Mamata had said that the Dalits and members of the backward class of Bengal consume beef. This has hurt the sentiments of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people and they will be putting up protest programmes across the state. Our SC/ST morcha might take legal action against it,” Ghosh said at a press conference.

Referring to the interview, Ghosh said that she had tried to claim credit for works that the Central government had done. “What has she done in enclave exchange programme with the Bangladesh government? It was a Central government decision and she claimed she did it and tried to take credit. On the contrary, her party has siphoned off money from the fund which came from the Central government for the development of road and electricity for the enclave dwellers who were now Indian citizens,” Ghosh added.

He scoffed at Mamata’s warnings that if BJP was aiming at Bengal t,hen the TMC too was aiming at the Delhi. “Delhi abhi door hai (at present, Delhi is far away ). Someone should tell her to mind the state affairs properly for the time being, instead of dreaming to rule the country,” Ghosh said.
