Just days before the Delhi election, AAP received another jolt on Tuesday. Major Dr Surendra Poonia decided to quit the party alleging that Kejriwal and his men are steering away from its original ethos and objectives.

In a letter addressed to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, Vishisht Seva Medal awardee Poonia alleged that the party has veered away from its original path. He gave example of  Okhla candidate Amanatullah Khan. According to Poonia, Khan has terror links with Indian Mujaheedin. Levelling a serious charge, Poonia alleged that AAP was well aware of  Amanutullah's past record, yet they decided to give him party ticket. Poonia in his letter said that as an army man he can't support a person, ideology or party that is compromising with country's security.

Poonia also mentioned the allegation of fraud funding levelled by NGO AVAM. Poonia questioned how Kejriwal as a tax officer was not aware of this fraud. Poonia signed off his letter saying he can't be part of a movement which is compromising national security and is based on illegal funding.
