Vashi Police with the help of cyber cell of Navi Mumbai Police arrested two persons from Malad in Mumbai in connection with the question paper leak on social media messenger of higher secondary examination which is currently underway.

Mumbai division of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education had lodged complaints with Vashi Police station on March 3 and 4 after the question papers went viral on WhatsApp.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rahul Bachelal Bhaskar (22) and Azaruddin Kamaruddin Shaikh (20), both of whom are residents of Malvani in Malad. The police said that they are students of second and third year B.Com and that they were arrested around 9 pm on Sunday from Mumbai.

They have been arrested under section 5 and 6 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University and Board and other specified examination Act of 1982 and section 66(A)(a) of the IT Act. The Navi Mumbai Police has issued a statement on their arrest and said that further investigation is ongoing. 

On March 2, the Marathi question paper was leaked on social media, while on Saturday two more question papers were leaked on the same WhatsApp group.
