The question was relating to destruction of mangroves along the Thane-Vasai creek on government and private land.

Kadam said Thane District Collector had filed cases under Environment Protection Act for destroying mangroves and making unauthorised construction.

Sagar, who was in the Chair, said a dedicated toll number should be set up for information of destruction of mangroves along the creeks and also a task force to take action.

Sanjay Kelkar, BJP's Thane MLA said godowns and hotels have come up along the creek.

Ashish Shelar (BJP) also highlighted unauthorised activities along the creek in his constituency Bandra.
