Former High court Justice M S Chauhan today joined as the Chairman of Police Complaints Authority (PCA) here.

"The authority has been set up for redressing the grievances of residents against police officials pertaining to death in police custody, grievous hurt as defined in IPC section 320, rape or attempt to rape, arrest or detention without due process of law, extortion, land/house grabbing or any incident involving serious abuse of authority," an official spokesman said.

The complaints need to be accompanied by affidavits and supporting documents and can be presented in person or be dropped in the complaint box.

The Authority shall hold sittings on every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, he said.

However, if any of the three days happens to be a public holiday, the Police Complaint Authority shall meet on the next working day.

"We will ensure that all the complaints are resolved in a fast track manner. We are taking all efforts to make the system transparent so that no inconvenience is caused to residents of the city," Chauhan said.
