Lifeguard rescues 13-yr-old boy from drowning at Aksa beach

Sohail Mansuri Khan tried to reach the shore but was unable to do so and started shouting for help.

A 13-year-old boy was rescued from drowning into the steep waters of Aksa beach at Malad (W) on Sunday evening by one of the deployed lifeguards. The boy has been identified as Sohail Mansuri Khan, a resident of Telli Compound in Kandivli (W). 

According to the Malwani police, Khan and his three-four friends had came to spend their Sunday at Aksa beach. Around 5pm, they decided to swim across the waters of the beach. Khan after venturing in deep waters began to drown. He tried to reach the shore but was unable to do so and started shouting for help. Khan's friend who came to the shore too cried out for help from the people present at that time. 

The incident came into the notice of the lifeguard who was stationed on the beach by the BMC. Taking immediate action, the lifeguard came to save Khan and managed to rescue him. The lifeguard brought Khan to the shore and he was given medical help. Out of fear and anxiety, Khan was unable to say anything to the officials. He was later taken to Malwani police station. After police probe, Khan gave necessary details to the police to contact his parents. 

"After the boy was bought to police station, the officers tried to get in touch with Khan's parents after which his father came and we handed over the boy to him." said senior inspector, Milind Khetle.
