Days after she told DNA that she wanted to approach the United Nations in support of Kulbhushan Jadhav, London-based British Indian lawyer Jas Uppal, who had started the 'Free Sarabjit Singh' campaign, has now drafted and submitted documents in the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in protest against the death sentence awarded to Jadhav by a Pakistan military court.
Uppal had lobbied with human rights groups and lawyers across the world for Sarabjit Singh's release and has come forward to save Kulbhushan Jadhav from the death penalty. The lawyer wants the UNHRC to intervene in the matter against the violations of human rights, Uppal's organisation 'Justice Upheld' has also started an online petition to save Kulbhushan.
Uppal said, "I have submitted the case details as well as the flaws and lack of evidence in Pakistan's case to the UN. I have received only the acknowledgment receipt, waiting to hear their reply. I will then contact Jadhav's family for details."
