Alleging that she felt 'humiliated' after she was taken off duty during the recent visit of Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Kurukshetra, martyr Mandeep Singh's widow Constable Prerna alleged that the government has not given due respect to the martyrs.

His widow, Prerna who is posted as a Constable in the Haryana Police Department alleged that she felt insulted when she was removed from the VIP duty during Home Minister Rajnath Singh's visit to Kurukshetra on May 29.
"I was initially deputed on duty at 7 am, I was asked to go back to Mahila Police Station just an hour before the Minister's arrival... I was asked to stay inside the police station and not go out. Despite following the rules of the job, why am I being humiliated like this?" she said.
Prerna also says that her family has been subjected to humiliation by the government.
"My husband gave up his live for the nation, and this is how we are treated? Respecting our martyrs is important," she said. She added that the government needs to honour the sacrifice of the soldiers.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had met the family in October last year and announced a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs and a job to the next of kin of the martyr. While the compensation was granted later in February, the government gave its nod to a Group-C post to his brother on June 1. However the family hasn't received the appointment later as of yet.
