While parents in Mumbai were escorting their wards to examination centres for SSC and HSC examination, many farmers whose children are also appearing in the examination across the state missed out because they had to come to Mumbai for the Long March.

To ensure no inconvenience to students taking the HSC and SSC exams on Monday, the Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sabha, leading the rally had decided to march in the night to Azad Maidan.

Farmer Ashvini Gangurde, whose daughter is appearing for SSC in Dindori says,"I had to send my daughter to her Aunt's place as me and my husband had to come here for March. She is appearing for the SSC exams and calls me before going to each paper. She misses me as she gets nervous before the exam but I tell her to be brave as we are fighting our battle with government.," Gangurde said.

Tulsidas, younger son of Alka Nivrutti Nisal (38), a resident of Varkhede village of Dindori is also giving SSC board exams in his village while Nisal joined the march from Nashik. "I wanted to stay with my son while he was studying for the exams and wish him luck but I had no option and come here for the success of the march as this is also important for us. My son wants to become a policeman, however, we are not sure if we could afford his further education. If we get the land we may be able to," Nisal said.

Appa Shankar Gharmale, hailing from Vani taluka in Nashik was also marching along while her daughter, Pradnya is appearing for her HSC exams. "Pradnya wants to become Chartered Accountant and she is a topper in her class, but we are not sure if we could afford it. We have around five acres of a plot in forest land, if the government accepted our demands, my daughter's dream could be fulfilled," Gharmale said.
