Khattar govt should act tough against corrupt: BJP MLA

BJP MLA from Gurugram Umesh Aggarwal today hit out at his own ruling Khattar government for not acting tough against those "involved in scams" and sought intervention of the party president to resolve the issues raised by the party's disgruntled legislators.

"I hope that I will get a reply on the issues raised by me and that the government will take action against those who are involved in scams," Aggarwal, who held a meeting with some of the disgruntled MLAs mostly from south Haryana, told reporters in Gurugram.

Among about five to six legislators who attended the meeting at Gurugram office of Aggarwal included BJP's Rewari MLA Randhir Kapriwas and party's legislator from Mullana segment Santosh Sarwan.

Aggarwal said he was eagerly waiting for the State BJP President to seek a reply on the issues raised by him.

"It is his responsibility that he should call me and ask what are the issues. Unfortunately, he never called or sought any reply from me so far," he said.

Last month, some of the sulking MLAs of ruling BJP had lashed out at alleged step-motherly treatment to them by the Khattar government vis-a-vis the rival group within the party.

"We have full faith in policies and programmes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which are taking the nation forward," Aggarwal said.

"However, the issues I have raised with regards to Haryana, I have so far not got any reply and I do hope that the State BJP President will call us and hear us soon," Aggarwal said.

Aggarwal recently attacked the state government and raised questions about the ownership of the Gwal Pahari land in Gurugram.

Haryana's main opposition party INLD and the Congress had also demanded a CBI probe into the Gwal Pahari "land scam" in Gurugram district.

While BJP has strength of 47 in the 90-member House, 12 party MLAs had recently met Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar here to vent their frustration "of being treated like Opposition MLAs".

Aggarwal also hit out at his own government after the Gannaur police in Sonepat yesterday booked his brother Rakesh and nephew Deepak along with 6 to 7 others allegedly for fraud with a property dealer of Gurugram.

The complainant property dealer has alleged that MLA's brother Rakesh Aggarwal had grabbed his land.

"My brothers purchased land in Gannaur and someone tried to grab the land and carve out colonies on it. Three FIRs have already been registered against that person 8-9 months back.

The matter is before court.

"Despite all this, a case has been registered against my close relatives. This case has been registered purely due to political considerations and out of vindictiveness, which is beyond comprehension," Aggarwal alleged.

"However, there is one thing which I want to state and that is I will not give in to any kind of pressure. Whatever government wants to do, no matter how much they torture let them do, I have no problem. Nobody can muzzle my voice," he said.

Meanwhile, reacting to Aggarwal's outbursts, Haryana Cabinet Minister Vipul Goel said the Chief Minister was ensuring equitable development.

"The Chief Minister has already toured all 90 assembly constituencies which includes that of the opposition MLAs. The CM is ensuring equitable development in entire State," Goel said.

Recently, BJP MLA Santosh Sarwan, who is part of the group of legislators who support Aggarwal, had accused some legislators of the ruling outfit of thinking themselves as "avtars (reincarnations) of Lord Vishnu." "Every MLA wants that he/she be heard. But there is one set of MLAs who are trying to run the show and throw their weight around. They are not Avatars of Lord Vishnu. We only want that we too should be heard," Sarwan had said.

Chief Minister Khattar, however, had earlier denied existence of any discontent or groupism among the party MLAs saying "none of our party MLAs is dissatisfied or unhappy. All of them stand united."

Asked if some of his MLAs were lobbying against him, Khattar said, "No lobbying of any kind occurs in the party. We take all decisions by consensus. I will stay as CM only on consensual decision, so will any one else replacing me."
