A college magazine in Kerala caused controversy after it depicted a couple having sex during the national anthem. The magazine titled Pellet was published by Brennen College in the Thalassery district of Kerala.
Delhi BJP spokesman Tajinder Bagga tweeted: “The magazine published by SFI at Brennan College in Kerala has insulted the national anthem. It is being urged to have sex with 2 people, while the national anthem is being shown in the theater. " He also asked CM Pinarayi Vijayan to take action.
According to Matrhubumi, the sketch appears on the 13th page of the magazine. It was alleged that Left student group Students Federation of India (SFI), which is at the helm of the college union, is using the magazine for political gains.
The BJP Kerala handle tweeted: “Brennen college Magazine published by SFI dedicates its edition to the Kashmiri Separatists and names it "Pellet" #AntiNationalSFI #Kerala. Brennen college Magazine published by SFI insults National Anthem; urges to have sex while the National Anthem is played.”
The magazine is also being slammed for its name and BJP also alleged that the edition was 'dedicated to Kashmiri separatists'. The National Anthem was in the news after an SC order which stated that the National Anthem had to be played before films and directed all individuals to stand up.
Interestingly, five legislators in the current Kerala Assembly are from Brennen College including CM Pinarayai Vijayan.
