With his focus firmly on guarding his home turf, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will skip a crucial volunteers meeting in Gujarat tomorrow.

Kejriwal was supposed to address a volunteers meeting at Chavani Maidan in Gandhinagar as part of his mission to conquer Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state which will go to polls later this year.

The booth level volunteers meeting will now be addressed by senior AAP leader and Delhi's Labour Minister Gopal Rai.

The AAP had planned a rally, assuming party's victory in Punjab polls, which would have boosted enthusiasm of party workers.

But the event has been watered down and has now taken a shape of a volunteers meet after party's poor show in Punjab and Goa, where it drew a blank.

The party was expecting that a win in either of the states will bolster its ambitions for a nationwide reach, and give a major push to its prospects in the Delhi MCD polls and the Gujarat Assembly elections later this year.

However, the poor showing has demoralised the party workers in the national capital.

Kejriwal and other senior party leaders are currently focused on ensuring party's win in crucial MCD polls, win in which will further strengthen AAP's grip on the national capital.

He will also address over a two dozen public meetings in Delhi, starting March 31.
