Karnataka: Teachers cut off 50 boys' hair to ‘discipline’ them

Teachers at a school in Karnataka cut off the hair of around 50 boys and sent it home with the boys in a packet, the News Minute reports. The shocking incident happened at Vinayaka English Medium School in Virajpet.

One teacher allegedly shot a video of the incident as well.

Livid parents of the boys have met with the Block Education Officer and the teachers, the report added. The three teachers who were responsible for the incident reportedly did not attend the meeting. School authorities claim that this was done to ‘discipline’ the students.

The Block Education officer said a show cause notice would be issued to the teachers and if the explanation was not reasonable, they would terminate them. Parents have stated that if action was not taken, they would file an FIR with the local police.
