The Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravishanker’s mediating efforts on land dispute in Ayodhya got a major jolt when expelled executive member of the All-India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Maulana Salman Hasani Nadvi withdrew himself from the ongoing talks.

“I am not a litigant in the Ayodhya case. Let the litigant participate in talks. I have no right to carry on dialogues on their behalf with anyone on the issue. I am dissociating myself from the ongoing talks,” said Maulana Salman Nadvi on Friday.

Significantly, he announced his exit from talks with Sri Sri Ravishanker on the Ayodhya dispute only after a day of his meeting with the Spiritual leader in Lucknow on Thursday.

After dissociating himself from the talks, Maulana Nadvi has supported the stand taken by the AIMPLB on the Ayodhya dispute. “Ram Janambhoomi-Babri mosque land dispute case is no more in Board’s agenda. Let the Supreme Court decide the case. We will wait for its judgment and follow the same,” he said.

Maulana Nadvi, who was expelled from the AIMPLB for supporting construction of Ram temple and shifting of Babri mosque, has also hinted to return to the Muslim Board but with a rider. “I am ready to return to the AIMPLB if four members, including Asaduddin Owaisi, Kamal Farooqui, Yusuf Machala and Qasim Rasool, are removed from the Board,” he said.

Maulana Nadvi’s U-turn has given a big jolt to the mediating efforts of Sri Sri Ravishanker who had held talks with him on Thursday in Lucknow along with other Muslim leaders. “Talks were harmonious in the direction of finding an amicable solution to the Ayodhya dispute for peaceful co-existence of the two communities in the country,” Sri Sri Ravishanker had stated after the meeting.

The Spiritual leader, however, remained unperturbed with the sudden development of Maulana Nadvi’s exit in the middle of the crucial talks. “People come and go but that doesn’t make any difference to the ongoing talks for a noble cause,” he reacted.

Maulana Nadvi had met the Art of Living Founder along with an eight-member delegation on February 8 at Bengaluru with a formula of shifting the Babri mosque and handing over the disputed land to Hindus for the construction of Ram temple. Taking serious note of his ‘misadventure’, the AIMPLB had expelled him from the Board on February 9 during Board’s meeting in Hyderabad.
