The family of the victims in the alleged gang rape case in Jewar now finally see a ray of hope as four people have been arrested following an encounter on Sunday morning.

Talking to DNA, a family member said, "In the morning we got the news regarding the arrest of four people in the case. Following the arrest, we are hoping that justice is served to us soon. It has been a really long wait now."

Narrating the ordeal of the past two months, the relative added that the ladies have locked themselves inside the house and are in a traumatic state.

They have stopped talking to their family members also.

"Last 2 months have been really hard for the family. We didn't even celebrate Eid following this tragedy. It was a nightmare for all of us in the family to remember that unfortunate day when four women in the family were gang raped and a male member was shot dead in front of us. No one can understand the trauma we are going through," he added.

The family was exasperated at the inaction of the police as the arrest of the victims took two months and pointed that they are still not sure if the judiciary will serve them justice.

"There is still a long way to go as our judicial system is very slow. It takes years to get justice. Rape accused should be punished immediately so that they think twice before doing this dirty act. Many of the accused are just arrested and let go," he added.
