Jaswant Singh critical, under constant monitoring by team of neurosurgeons

Former BJP leader Jaswant Singh was on Friday morning admitted in the Army Hospital in Delhi after he met an accident at his residence in which he received severe head injuries last night.
At present he is very critical and is on life support system under constant monitoring by a team of neurosurgeons. "Examination at the hospital showed him to be in coma, with signs of 'raised intracranial tension and a haematoma scalp'. Urgent CT scan of the head showed 'an acute subdural haematoma with mass effect, a midline shift and contusion of the brain substance'. A lifesaving 'decompressive hemicraniectomy' was done," the Ministry said.
The 76-year-old former Defence Minister was admitted to the hospital in a highly critical condition around 0100 hours today with injury to his head after his family members brought him to the hospital after finding him lying on the floor of the house in an unconscious state, the Ministry said.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani visited the hospital to inquire about Jaswant Singh’s welfare
A former external affairs minister and one of the founders of the BJP, Jaswant Singh quit the party early this year after he was denied ticked to contest Lok Sabha polls from Barmer.
Singh is considered very close to party patriarch LK Advani and has worked closely with former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Jaswant Singh, who fought as an Independent candidate from Barmer constituency of Rajasthan, lost the seat by a big margin of over 87,000 votes against BJP's Colonel Sonaram.
