Jammu and Kashmir: Village head shot dead by unknown gunmen in Pulwama

A village head was shot dead by unknown gunmen at the Wagum village in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district, last evening.

According to sources, suspected militants fired upon 43 year-old Mohammad Yousf Bhat, Nambardar village head at around 9:30 p.m. when he was on his way to a local mosque for prayers.

He was immediately rushed to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile the army, the Special Operation Group of Police and the CRPF have cordoned off the area and launched a hunt to nab the suspected militants.
