Four people were injured after terrorists hurled grenades at a CRPF party in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday.

Two civilians and two CRPF jawans were injured in the grenade attack in Tral's Batagund Village in Pulwama.

Jammu and Kashmir police have cordoned off the area and the search operation of the militants are underway. It is not yet known if they are local militants or terrorists from Pakistan.

This is the second grenade attack in less than a month after militants lobbed a powerful grenade at the Tehsil Office in Pulwama, injuring eight cops — two of them seriously. Several cars were also damaged in the explosion.

The police said that the target was the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) company guarding the Treasury in the Tehsil office, adding that the militants surfaced in the area in the afternoon and lobbed the grenade.

"There is a company headquarter of IRP in the Tehsil Office premises, guarding the treasury. The grenade exploded, causing injuries to eight policemen. Six of them were discharged, and two were shifted to the Base hospital in Srinagar," said Mohammad Aslam, senior superintendent of police, Pulwama.

Security forces then immediately cordoned off the area to hunt for the militants. Reinforcements were also rushed to the area to augment the security forces on the ground. However, the militants managed to escape from the scene.

Indian Army claimed over 500 Pakistani trained militants were waiting to cross the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate into Jammu and Kashmir.

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GoC-in-C) of Army's Northern Command Lieutenant, General Devraj Anbu on Thursday said that nearly 200 to 250 militants are waiting in south of Pir Panjal while 200-250 are north of Pir Panjal.

The Army commander also said that since the nineties, Pakistan has just been generating terrorists in camps.
