Jaipur boy Aman Bansal tops JEE Advanced 2016, Riya Singh of Kota is first among girls

12.4% girls have qualified the coveted exam, Bombay zone number 1 with 8,810 successful candidates

Jaipur boy Aman Bansal has topped in Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (2016) conducted for admissions to the premier IITs, result of which was declared Sunday morning.

Bhavesh Dhingra from Yamuna Nagar and Kunal Goyal from Jaipur have bagged the second and third position in the test. All three rankers took coaching from Kota-based Allen Career Institute.

Riya Singh, with an all India rank of 133, topped among the girls. She appeared in the exam from Kota. Maharashtra topper Prey Shah has bagged AIR 16. Maharashtra’s girl’s topper Dimple Kochar has got 295th rank. 

The IITs announced the JEE (Advanced) results on Sunday morning as per their schedule. In all, 36,566 of the 1.47 lakh aspirants, who appeared for the test held on May 22, have qualified in the examination. Of the students who qualified, 4,570 are girls.

Duggani Jeevithiesh from Vijaywada topped the students who appeared from the OBC category, Chinmay Awale from Navi Mumbai topped in the SC category, Chaithanya Naik from Punganur in the ST category and Hari Prasad K from Guntur topped the physically disabled category.

From the IIT-Bombay zone, 8,810 students qualified, highest among the seven zones, followed by 6,702 from IIT-Madras zone, and 5,941 from the IIT-Delhi zone. This year, with the addition of four new IITs, the total number of seats has gone up to 10,575 from last year's 10,006.

JEE Advanced website crashed

The Website was running very slow since morning and eventually it crashed by the afternoon. Several students were unable to check their rank.
