Indian Union Muslim League national General Secretary P K Kunhalikkutty today condemned the death threat issued by an RSS functionary to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, saying it was almost like statements from leaders of dreaded terror outfit Islamic State in the Middle East.

"I strongly condemn the statement... It was an ugliest statement to be heard," he told reporters here.

The 'outrageous' statement by RSS functionary Kundan Chandravat declaring Rs 1 crore bounty on Vijayan's head had created a doubt in the minds of people that "whether the Sangh Parivar has started operations similar to that of Islamic State," he said.

"It sounds like a terror outfit's statement. It is against Indian tradition", said Kunjalikkutty, who is also the Deputy Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly.

Chandravat had yesterday sparked an uproar when he announced in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh a Rs one crore bounty for beheading Vijayan, drawing condemnation from the Sangh fountainhead, CPI(M) and Congress.

He announced the reward to avenge the killing of RSS workers in Kerala, allegedly by CPI-M workers.

The RSS has distanced itself from Chandravat's remarks.
