The Indian Army's Western Command has taken the initiative of imparting self-defence training to the families of serving personnel.

"The step has been taken in view of the recent attacks on army camps of Sunjuwan and Nagrota (in J&K) where the families of serving personnel became soft targets for the militants," an official release said here today.

"The EME (the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers) unit at Chandimandir organised a training session, where trained professionals from a martial art academy demonstrated self-defence skills to women and children of the soldiers," it said.
