Twitter went into overdrive on Friday after Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced that the GST for khakra, a popular Gujarati snack, had been reduced to 5% from 12%. Jaitley made the announcement during the Goods and Service Tax Council Meet that gave a breather for small and medium enterprises in the country.
However, in the midst of it all, it was khakra that was doing the rounds on Twitter.

Earlier, Jaitley said that the GST Council has agreed to allow SMEs with turnover of up to Rs 1.5 crore to file quarterly returns instead of monthly filings. About 90 per cent of the taxpayers will be benefited by this change, Arun Jaitley added. E-wallet gateway will be developed and introduced after six months. In-principle it has been agreed upon to bring down the rate for AC restaurants to 12 percent.
