Members of the anti-sterlite movement organized a human chain protest demanding the permanent closure of Sterlite Copper here.

The human chain, extending from Rajaji park to old Harbor, was formed seeking the permanent closure of the copper smelter plant of Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd.
