The troubles for Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda are far from over. Now, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax department to probe the income trail of the Dera and if there was any money laundering involved.

The orders for the probe come after there were allegations of laundering and tax evasions by both the Dera chief and his close associates, which had not been investigated earlier. The ED will examine all movable and immovable property of the Dera, including institutes, hospitals, schools and colleges run by the group, stated the court.

Apart from the assets, income, bank accounts, financial transactions and properties, the ED will also investigate the investment made by Dera Chief Ram Rahim and his associates in Bollywood movies along with income from overseas as accessed from hard disks recovered during the search operation.

However, the probe will begin only after the Court Commissioner, retired judge AK Pawar submits his detailed report on the three-day sanitization carried out at the Sirsa-headquarte, and he has sought more time for it.

In the resumed hearing of the PIL, the Court also pulled up the Haryana government, asking if any arrangements were made to ensure no incriminating evidence was removed from the headquarters. "There was a period of 10 days between the conviction of the Dera Chief on August 25 and the start of the search operation on September 8, which was long enough for the Dera officials to remove incriminating evidences," petitioner Ravinder Dhull had informed the court.

The next date of hearing is November 8.
