Kodnani evaded questions regarding her political victimisation and did not comment upon who were behind framing her.
"I was a worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), I am a worker of the party and will be in future," said an elated Maya Kodnani, who was cleared of all charges in the Naroda Patia pogrom of 2002.
Thanking God for giving her the strength and the will to bide the difficult days in jail and under duress of the weight of the allegations she was charged with, Kodnani said she has not made any blueprint for the future.
"I thank God for giving me the strength to get through difficult times. He gave me patience and ultimately the truth has triumphed. My ordeal was a test from God and I am happy that I have come out with flying colours."
Kodnani evaded questions regarding her political victimisation and did not comment upon who were behind framing her. "At this moment I just want to thank God every moment. I don't want to do anything else as of now. That time when I was framed was different and now circumstances have changed. With my release and exoneration I have come to have more than ever faith in God."
Asked if she would return to active politics soon given that she is now in good health after a bad spell, Kodnani said: "Since the decision of the court came only yesterday so I have not planned that long into the future. For now I shall be visiting my well-wishers, will pay obeisance to elders."
A deeply religious person, Kodnani broke into tears on Friday when the verdict came. "I generally fast on every Friday," she said.
On being asked about the Congress attack on Friday against the verdict, Kodnani skirted the question. "Since I did not see it. I am not aware of it, so I cannot comment on that."
