In a shocking case, a video has gone viral in which a girl, who is from Latur in Maharashtra, was seen being beaten up by a group of people and was forced to consume cow dung in Karnataka's Bidar district. The police, however, claimed that apart from the girl, a woman was also forced to consume cow dung, although the video shows only the girl from Latur. The police arrested four persons on Tuesday and are on the lookout for a ‘godman’ from Karnataka in connection with the said crime.
The four who have been arrested are Prabhakar Kesale, Pandit Kore, Gangadhar Shewale and Dagdu Shewale from Dhangarwadi village in the Chakur area of Latur.
According to the Chakur police, a youth from Dhangarwadi, who works in Pune, had recently received a video on his mobile phone wherein two girls were seen being beaten up and forced to consume cow dung. It is suspected that the act was aimed at warding off problems from the lives of the girl and the woman.
The youth from Dhangarwadi was shocked to realise that the girl in the video was from his village. He then visited his village and informed his father about the said video. The youth’s father then approached the police and lodged a complaint in this regard.
“The complainant had alleged that Kesale, Kore, Gangadhar and Dagdu Shewale and one more woman were involved in the crime, after which they were arrested. While the girl in the video is from Chakur, the woman is from Nanded. Both of them are untraceable and their families do not know their whereabouts. A further probe revealed that the crime had taken place in Kavtha Village in Karnataka's Bidar district and the girl and the woman were forced by a godman from Bidar to consume the cow dung,” said an officer from Chakur police station.
