Four members of a family, riding a motorbike, were killed when front tyre of the two-wheeler burst near Batiagarh village on Damoh-Chattarpur road in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh today.

The deceased were identified as Mitthu Athya (38), his wife Radhabai (36), their son Golu (6) and nephew Virendra (16), residents of Manthandari village, police said.

They were on their way to Shahnai Piparia village to visit Athya's in-laws, Batiagarh police station in-charge Chandrakant Patel said.

Athya lost control of the motorbike after its front tyre burst, and it hit pipes lying on the roadside.

All four died on the spot, Patel said.
