Four killed, six injured in road accident in Chhattisgarh

Four people, including two minors, were today killed and six others injured when their van collided with a trailer truck in Chhattisgarh's Surajpur district, police said.

The mishap occurred in the wee hours near Raghunathpur village under Premnagar police station limits on Surajpur-Tara road while the victims were returning after attending a marriage ceremony, said Station House Officer (SHO) Premnagar Ganesh Yadav.

As many as 10 people from Salkha village of the district, had gone to Nawapara village in a van to attend the wedding ceremony, the officer added.

While returning, the vehicle collided with the trailer truck, coming from the opposite direction, killing four of its occupants on the spot, the SHO said.

The deceased were identified as Dilraj Singh (35), Baljeet Sai (32), Surendra Singh (17) and Dilharan (12), he said.

The injured were rushed to Premnagar primary health centre from where two critically hurt were referred to Ambikapur district headquarter for further treatment, he added.

A case has been registered in this connection, the SHO said adding a probe was on.
