Three teenagers, including two Delhi University students, have been arrested for allegedly carrying out thefts at residences of two police officials in Chanakyapuri area here.

The police said that the three accused broke into the houses, when the policemen were out of station, and decamped with gold jewellery, two laptops and mobile phones.

The mastermind behind the robbery was identified as Rahul Sharma (19), a DU student. He along with another DU student Shravan Kumar Bharti and Yogesh Verma, a driver by profession, were arrested, the Delhi Police said in statement.

Sharma lived in the same locality and knew that the house owners were away on a family trip after which he made a plan to carry out the robbery with Bharti and Verma it said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police put Sharma under surveillance and apprehended him. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the crime with two others.

A case has been registered against the three accused under sections 380 (theft) and 457 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the statement added.
