The Punjab police today claimed to have nabbed a drug smuggler and recovered Rs 27.50 lakh cash, heroin, three Pakistani SIM cards and a pistol from him in a village here.

Acting on a tip off, a police team stopped a tractor at Nihala Kilcha village here. On searching the vehicle, police recovered 75 gram heroin, a pistol, seven live cartridges, three Pakistani mobile SIM cards and Rs 27.50 lakh cash.

Police nabbed Sonu Singh, who was travelling on the tractor. However, his brother Joginder Singh managed to escape, Ferozepur SP Dharamveer said.

Police suspected that the brothers duo was involved in smuggling contraband from across the border. Their village was located just near the border fence, police said.
