Following dna's report on Saturday — Shaky bridge making lives difficult for Byculla residents — authorities informed that a new public bridge, connecting east and west, will be constructed.

The current FOB (Foot Over Bridge) is in a dilapidated condition that is used by people to go from east to west and vice versa. According to railway officials, the Byculla bridge comes under Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) that gives the repair work responsibility to the railways. "The new bridge has been approved and will be built after monsoon," informed a railway official.

He added: "It is a public FOB. The railway constructs FOB for the BMC under which the Byculla FOB falls. The BMC has already given the repair work of that bridge to the railway and soon we will construct a new bridge for which the tender proposal has been completed. The work will start after monsoon."
