DLF gets LEED platinum certification for 12 green office bldgs

Realty major DLF has received 'LEED Platinum Certification' by the US Green Building Council for its office projects in Gurgaon and Chennai comprising 10.7 million sq ft, the company said today.

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) is a green building certification programme that recognises best- in-class building strategies and practices. It emphasises measurable and sustainable green construction technologies such as water and energy efficiencies, indoor air quality, materials used and innovations in building performance.

Platinum certification is the highest LEED designation.

"DLF has been awarded LEED Platinum Certification by the US Green Building Council for its office projects in Gurgaon and Chennai," a company statement stated.

DLF's 12 office buildings consisting of nine in Chennai and three in Gurgaon have received LEED Platinum certification, it added.

"This certification has not only been awarded to our new projects, but to existing projects that have been maintained and operated by improving performance across metrics like energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emission reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and energy sustainability," DLF's RentCo MD Sriram Khattar said.

DLF is the country's largest real estate developer. Its current leased portfolio is about 30 million sq ft of commercial space and land bank of about 64 million sq ft.
