Devotees gather to see Tirupathi Balaji’s replica

Devotees in Mumbai are amazed to see the rarely seen puja and seva of Lord Sri Venkateswara, also known as Tirupati Balaji.

Devotees in Mumbai are amazed to see the rarely seen puja and seva of Lord Sri Venkateswara, also known as Tirupati Balaji.

For a week, since 6am, the devotees will be able to hear and see the divine songs, puja organised in the Somaiya ground near Chunabhatti area in Mumbai.

According to the organisers, they have got a 200 member-team from Tirupathi to organise this event and get the exact replica of the deity and temple made.

Yogesh Danga, a member of GSB mandal community, said, “I have been to Tirupathi Balaji temple thrice in my life but as soon as I got the opportunity to volunteer for this week long activity, I accepted it. This is like a dream come true. I feel happy about the fact that I somehow managed to volunteer for the deity’s seva.”

While, there will be over lakhs of visitors within a week, a team of 100 pandits have travelled to do vinesha seva, a special puja every day.  The program is organised by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and sponsored by Radha Foundation Mumbai.

“We visited this area to meet our relative from Thane. As soon as we got to know about, this we came here to take blessing. I have never been there before and don’t know when I will get a chance to see the temple. This is a good opportunity for everybody to see the replica of the deity in the city,” said Thane resident Damyanti Naik.

According to the organisers, it is organised to fulfil the desire of the Lord Balaji devotees in the city. The replica has been brought from the original temple in Andhra Pradesh.

Member of Parliament, Rahul Shewale, who initiated the program, said, “From our city, over 20% of the population always visit the temple. Many a times there is waiting for online booking. We wanted to bring and show the exact replica of the temple and the deity to the people living here who are not able to travel so far and visit the temple. We will also be doing the special puja which devotees rarely observe.”
