An all-party meeting held here today decided to organise a protest demonstration at Tamil Nadu-Kerala border on March 12, against the reported move by the neighbouring state to construct check dams across Bhavani river.
Representatives of various political parties including DMK, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal, Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhakam (TPDK) besides farmers' associations, resolved to stage a 12-hour demonstration at K G Chavadi.
Kerala has almost completed the construction of a check dam in Thekkuttai, preventing the flow of Bhavani waters for irrigation and drinking purpose to Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts, TPDK sources alleged.
The meeting also urged both the Centre and Tamil Nadu government to take immediate steps to prevent the move by Kerala, the sources added.
