The Corbett Tiger Reserve administration has introduced a lottery-based entry system for day safaris to prevent misuse of online bookings, an official said today.

"The new system was introduced yesterday after it was found that the names of those entering the park were different from those in the booking permit," CTR Field Director Surendra Mehra said.

This mechanism will help authorities monitor the entry of tourists into the park, he said.

It was also found that permits booked online were being exchanged in lieu of money, Mehra said, adding the lottery system initially will be used for vacant slots.

The alleged misuse and tampering of bookings was detected during an recent inspection at the Bijtani Dhela and the Dhangarhi entry points of the park, he said.

If the person in whose name the booking was made is absent, the vacant slot will be alloted through the lottery system, Mehra said.
