Cow smugglers fire at police, three arrested

The Alwar police on Monday arrested a suspected cow smuggler and recovered 13 cows from a vehicle in which he was travelling along with three others who managed to get away. The cows were supposedly being taken to Haryana from Bhiwadi in Alwar.

“The incident took place near Narnaul in the early hours of Monday. Four persons travelling in an Eicher truck carrying the cows evaded police checking and tried to escape. When the police followed them, they opened fire on the police team. The police retaliated and fired five rounds. There were four persons in the truck. They tried to get away on foot, one has been arrested and search is on for other three. The arrested, one Umar, son of Ameen is a resident of Palla village in Nuh of Haryana.

“There was tight nakabandi in the night. The vehicle came close to the barricade, turned and tried to get away. We followed it on suspicion and the persons in the canter opened fire on the police. The police fired back,” DSP Bhiwadi Siddhanth Sharma said.
