A city court today remanded national-level shooter Prashant Bishnoi, a key accused in multi-crore gun-running and wildlife smuggling case, in 14 days judicial custody.

He was produced before the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate which took cognisance of the case filed against him by the forest department.

Bishnoi was arrested last week, almost a month after raids conducted by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at his residence here resulted in the recovery of about Rs one crore in cash besides over a hundred illegally imported firearms, 117 kg of nilgai meat, horns and skins of leopards and blackbucks.

"Bishnoi was today produced in the ACJM's court and remanded in 14-day judicial custody," his counsel S P Singh said, adding the shooter has been taken back to Tihar Jail in Delhi.

He will be brought here on next court date, Singh added.

According to the Meerut police, a DRI team had arrested Bishnoi's three associates on April 29 at Delhi Airport.

On the basis of information received from them, raids were conducted on April 30 at Bishnoi's residence in Civil Lines area here.

Bishnoi is alleged to be the kingpin of a global syndicate involved in smuggling of fire arms and wildlife.

He had appeared before the DRI officials in response to summons issued against him and arrested following interrogation.

He was produced before a court in Delhi on June 2 which had sent him to 14 days in judicial custody.
