Court convicts five person for acid attack on girl

An Aurangabad court today held five persons guilty of killing a girl last year by throwing acid at her.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Mishra convicted prime accused Mohammad Azhar and four others under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and POSCO for the acid attack on the girl on June 23, 2016 in Rajabagicha locality under Rafiganj police station area.

The girl had died later during treatment in a hospital in the national capital.

She had given a statement to the police charging Azhar and others with carrying out acid attack on her after she had rejected his advances.

The judge will pronounce quantum of punishment to the convicts on June 29 next.
