BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, on Saturday alleged that the Dalit leader and Congress-supported candidate from Vadgam seat Jignesh Mevani was funded by anti-national political front. Patra addressed a press conference at BJP's media centre when almost half of Gujarat was busy in casting votes under the first phase of assembly polls in state.

Patra said, "Rahul Gandhi should reply that the candidate they have declared their support and Dalit leader Jignesh Mewani was given a check as election fund by Popular Front of India(PFI). We do not make any allegation but the name of PFI was opened during the investigation of National Investigation Agency(NIA)."

"Anti-national forces have come in direct support to Congress and so as Congress supported them. A Congress leader Salman Nizami, who shouted slogans in favour of Afzal Guru and runs a Pro-Pakistan movement in Kashmir has dragged Narendra Modi's father and grandfather's names to play dirty politics. Rahul Gandhi should clarify that what kind of culture their party has been endorsing," added Patra.

The chief minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani also addressed a press conference at media centre. He said, "Congress is creating ruckus on the name of EVM disfunction because they have been looking at great defeat in Gujarat polls. BJP will win with more than 150 votes."
