Congress today dismissed the allegation that its senior leader Jyotiraditya Scindia is "renting out" erstwhile properties of the Scindia family in Gwalior which now house various public institutions.

The allegation by BJP vice president Prabhat Jha was "foolish talk", state Congress leaders Pradymna Singh Tomar, Rambaran Singh Gurjar, Sunil Sharma, Pankaj Chaturvedi and others said at a press conference here.

The Congressmen also demanded that Jha's own assets should be probed.

The BJP leader, in a letter dated May 17 to Union tourism and culture minister Mahesh Sharma, had alleged that Scindia was "renting out" buildings such as Central Telegraph Office, Padma Vidyalaya, Jai Arogya Hospital, etc.

The Scindia family, erstwhile royals, had donated these buildings to the government.

These buildings, being of historical and archaeological importance, must be protected, he said.

Congress leaders today dismissed the allegation as "foolish talk" and described Jha as "mentally deranged".

"People will never believe that buildings like Jai Arogya Hospital, Padma Vidyalaya, Kamlaraje College can be ever rented out," they said.

"Scindia family has always stood with people in their need and contributed in the public interest," they said.

The Congress leaders also offered details of properties allegedly owned by Jha, and demanded a probe.
