Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was on Saturday trolled on the social media for expressing his concern over women consuming alcohol.

Parrikar reaffirmed his government's resolve to tackle the drug menace in the coastal state even as he expressed concern over girls consuming liquor these days.

"I have begun to fear now, because even girls have started drinking beer. The tolerance limit is being crossed. I am not talking about everyone. I am not talking about those sitting here," Parrikar said in Panaji, on Friday, addressing the State Youth Parliament, which was organised by the state Legislature department.

However, his statement did not go down well with the Twitterati, who savagely tore into the Chief Minister while using a hashtag #GirlsWhoDrinkBeer

Mahatma Gandhi's great-grandson Tushar Gandhi also hit out at Parrikar.

Another also questioned as whether Parrikar is even aware of the century he was living in.

A woman also asked the Chief Minister whether they need to go through sex change operation for a glass of beer.

Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani compared the sense of how girls always make more sense.

In no time, the trend became one of the top three topics on the micro-blogging site.
