Centre should order building of Ram Mandir on Babri Masjid site: VHP

In a press conference in Mumbai on Thursday, the general secretary of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that the central government should pass an order for building a "Bhavya Ram Mandir" at Babri Masjid demolition site even before the Supreme Court decides on the matter. The press conference was held at the Mumbai Press Club. 

Babri Masjid was demolished on December 6, 1992 despite assurances given by the then Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh that the masjid will not be damaged. 

"In (UP) state as well as in Centre, the government is now of Ram Bhakts and Rashtra Bhakts. There is no reason why there should be any delay for Bhavya Ram Mandir when the other party does not want to talk," said Surendra Jain, VHP general secretary. 

Jain accused the Muslim community of "not wanting to talk" on the subject and that the "patience of Hindus cannot wait endlessly". "If someone does not want to talk, nothing can be done. The puja is going on there and we are now creating Jan Jagran," said Jain.

When asked about the hurry to create "Jan Jagran" while the Supreme Court is already deciding on the matter, Jain said, "For how long can we wait? In India, judiciary, executive and legislature have the same status. The government can come out with the rule and Bhavya Mandir should be made," said Jain, adding that those opposing the "Bhavya Ram Mandir" were "Ram Virodhi and Rashtra Virodhi."
