Interrogation of the lone captured Pakistani militant Usman has thrown up some startling facts about the indoctrination and terror matrix across the other side of the Line of Control.

Usman aka Naveed, who hails from Faisalabad, has told the interrogators that he infiltrated some 10 to 12 days ago and was on a mission to seek revenge for the atrocities on the Kashmiri people.

He has also said he was part of two members group who crossed in. He has identified his associate as Momin of Bhawalpur Pakistan.

Usman comes from a rather well-to-do family. One of his brothers is said to be a lecturer while another is running a hosiery business in Faisalabad. He has one sister. Usman's has not studied much.

The duo after crossing into this side navigated through jungles till they entered Jammu and then Udhampur. In Udhampur they attacked the BSF convoy killing two jawans and injuring 11 others. He has told his interrogators that he does not know any other group and only two had crossed from the LoC perhaps from the Poonch side.

Usman, a battle hardened militant, was so much indoctrinated that he showed little remorse when he was caught by the security forces. In a short video captured on mobile phone, he was smiling and told the people not to abuse him.

He told the people that his food stocks lasted for just three days but later they barged into someone's house and stole the food. Asked why he infiltrated, he was candid to say to attack and avenge the atrocities inflicted on the Kashmiris.

However, the investigators are taking his statement with a pinch of salt given his flip flop during questioning. Investigators are wary that he is a part of two member group. They suspect that it could be a large group which has been pushed to revive militancy in Jammu division.

Investigators feel that though the attack at Udhampur has the Lashkar-e-Toiba imprints, yet they are not ruling out the hand of Jaish-e-Mohommad given Faisalabad has huge influence of Moulana Masood Azhar, who was released in lieu of passengers of hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC 814.

What investigators fear is that the Pakistani security establishment might be working a different plan to revive militancy in Jammu division?
"While Kashmir has seen surge in the home grown militancy, Jammu is rather oblivious to the terrorism. Pakistan's game plan is while local militants will keep pot boiling in Kashmir, there is a need to send foreign cadres to Jammu to replenish militant ranks", said a senior officer.
