BSF damages five Pak posts; 5 CRPF jawans injured in terror attack

Border Security Force (BSF) damaged at least three Pakistani posts and grievously injured two Pakistan Rangers after a BSF constable was killed when Pakistan violated the ceasefire on the International Border in Samba sector of Jammu on Thursday.

The action on border comes on the day terror revisited Kashmir when militants attacked a CRPF convoy injuring five jawans at south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

"In response to misadventure of Pakistan Rangers at 9.30 am in which constable Tapan Mondal attained martyrdom while on patrol ahead of fence, BSF carried out calibrated retributive action against Pak Rangers in Samba Sector and caused serious damage to two to three Pakistan Posts and caused grievous injuries to minimum two Pak Rangers," said a BSF spokesman.

The retaliatory action by the BSF continued till 2 pm to silence Pakistani guns. Hailing from village Satui, in Murshidabad district of West Bengal, constable Tapan Mondal is survived by his mother Sumitra Mondal.

In a separate incident militants attacked a CRPF convoy injuring five jawans at Anantnag. Police said a convoy of 96th battalion of CRPF was attacked by the militants at Lazibal village in which five jawans were injured. Two of them suffered bullet wounds while as three suffered bruises because of the shattering of wind shields.

"A convoy of CRPF 96 battalion with six buses was on their way back to Mattan when terrorists fired at them. The attack was repulsed though two CRPF men received minor injuries. The area is under cordon," said a police spokesman.

Rakesh Yadav, the CRPF spokesman said, the vehicle was on way to Anantnag from Jammu when it was attacked. "All the soldiers are out of danger," he said.
