Brother-duo held with junked notes of face value Rs 37 lakh

Two brothers were today arrested in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir after demonetised notes with a face value of over Rs 37 lakhs were recovered from them, police said.

Farooq Ahmad Labroo and his brother Mohammad Shafi, residents of Sumbal area of Bandipora district, were detained by railway police at Mazhama station this morning, a police officer said.

He said old currency notes of Rs 500 with a total face value of Rs 37.20 lakh were recovered from their possession.

Both the persons were handed over to police for investigation, the officer said.
