A notorious criminal managed to flee from poice custody after he snatched the pistol of one of the policeman and opened fire.

The incident, which took place in Baniyather police station area, resulted in two policeman getting seriously injured.

"Titu-alias-Sunil, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 5000, was arrested from Jaisingh Theresa village after an encounter and was being taken to the police station when he snatched the pistol of Sub Inspector Pramod Kumar. He opened fire and fled in the fields before firing in the air twice," additional SP Pankaj Pandey said.

"Besides Kumar, Pravin Solanki was the other policeman who was injured in the incident," Pandey said, adding that a probe into the incident is on.
