A multi-agency mock drill, comprising 200 security personnel, was today conducted at a Delhi metro station here to effectively combat a bomb blast-like scenario.

As many as five agencies, led by paramilitary Central Industrial Security Force, undertook the hour-long operation beginning at 11:00 AM at the Civil Lines station here.

While about 90 CISF personnel were roped in for the task, 85 men and women from other agencies like Delhi Police, NDRF, Fire service, DMRC, disaster management also took part.

Officials said elaborate arrangements were made while multiple facilities were activated to conduct the drill, which enacted a scenario where a bomb blast, perpetrated by a terrorist-like element, was reported from the concourse area of the station and commuters had to be rescued.

They said such drills are done to check the operational preparedness of multiple stakeholders that work to keep the rapid transport network of the national capital region - Delhi Metro - safe and secure.

At least 26 lakh commuters use the metro daily.
