If the loss in Goa despite being the single largest party in that state wasn't bad enough, the Congress has been mocked on Twitter by BJP leader Girraj Singh.

Singh, who has never been one to be politically correct, congratulated Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for proving the majority, and thanked 'BJP's Karyakartas' Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh for making the win possible.

Earlier, Manohar Parrikar won the trust vote on the floor of Legislative Assembly on Thursday, with 22 legislators voting for him in the 40-member Assembly.

Congress MLA and senior state leader Vishwajit Rane defied the party whip, and abstained from voting. He later resigned from the membership of the party as well as the Assembly. Rane was a front runner for the chief minister’s post within the Congress.

In Delhi, Congress leaders were livid at party general secretaries Digvijay Singh and CP Joshi, both close confidantes of Vice President Rahul Gandhi, for not turning the tables in Goa and Manipur even after emerging as the single-largest party.

“Right from the beginning, the Congress did not have the numbers and it was only a hype created by them,” Parrikar said “It happens when you come to Goa only to enjoy, not to work,” he quipped.
Rane was upset with Singh for failing to clinch the support of smaller parties after election results were announced on Saturday last. “I have resigned as MLA. I have also resigned as a member of the party. I am going back to the people for a fresh mandate,” he told DNA on the phone from Goa.

On Friday, another Congress leader Savio Rodrigues resigned from the party. Posting his resignation on Twitter, Rodrigues, who is also a journalist, tweeted to Digvijay Singh and Rahul Gandhi, saying that they didn't answer his phones.
