BJP MP from Porbandar Vitthal Radadiya was today elected as the vice chairman of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO).
Radadiya is already on IFFCO's board as a director. He now replaces N P Patel, also from Gujarat, as the vice chairman, IFFCO said in a release.
"The world's largest processed fertiliser cooperative IFFCO in its board meeting held in Kolkata elected Vitthal Radadiya as the new vice chairman," it said.
"He is elected as vice chairman following an election process after the exit of N P Patel," it said.
The release quoted Radadiya as saying that it was a proud moment for him.
Radadiya, a second-time MP, is a prominent Patel leader from Gujarat. The state government had asked him to act as a mediator for negotiations with Patidar quota agitation leaders.
