Bengaluru | ‘Monster dad’ arrested for brutally assaulting 10-year-old son after video goes viral

In a shocking incident, a man was caught on camera for brutally thrashing his own child for ‘lying.’

The father mercilessly beating his 10-year-old son was recorded on camera by his mother. The incident took place nearly three months ago, but it came to light recently.

The technician, who repaired her phone saw the video and leaked it online. Soon, it went viral. The police registered a suo motu case and arrested the father.

The man has been identified as Mahendra from Kengeri in Bengaluru. The 32-year-old works at an IT consultancy firm, The News Minute reported. 

In the disturbing video, the man repeatedly shouts at the terrified child – ‘will you lie?’ The child keeps on crying, while the father pushes, shoves him and ruthlessly thrashes him.

‘Mahendra thrashed his son for skipping tuition and not completing his homework on time. The boy is said to have lied about these things. He told his wife Shilpa to record the video and show it to the boy the next time he lies,’ a Kengeri police official was quoted as saying by The News Minute. 

The recent numbers released by the National Crime Record Bureau show a painfully disturbing scenario. While India is on path of development, the children of our metropolitan cities remain vulnerable. 

Bengaluru comes at third position in terms of crime against children. There were 888 kidnappings, 10 murders and 308 cases of sexual assault involving minors. In most cases, the accused is known to the victim.
